What is a 'boot camp'? It is a camp where rigorous training is given in a military style to students to make them tough. The whole routine would be similar to that of a military camp. There would be military exercises and physical training. The whole idea is to discipline the students and force them into following rules and is used as a short term alternative to a military boarding school. Such camps are said to make the students well behaved at home and at school. This is mainly for adolescents who do not listen to the authorities and need to be disciplined.
Today, 'boot camps' are conducted by fitness experts to train people to lose fat, as a team in a live-in program. This helps to build friendship too, and is thus fun. This physical training program has been popular for quite some time. It is conducted by experts in fitness training, retired military officers or by gyms. This is unlike the earlier 'boot camps' in that you join it according to your free will and the emphasis is on fitness.
These boot camps generally train people outdoors and have them workout by running and exercising with weights and other forms of training. Working as a group and living together, they get set into a regular routine doing exercises. This increases their strength and their cardiovascular efficiency. All this goes into burning the fat and making people fit. They are also advised as to what they should eat and what not to eat.
They do pushups and squats, for exercise. They also run and take part in competitive sports. They are divided into groups of twos or fours or even as small groups or two teams. The basic idea is that each one should lose weight according to their capacity, at their own pace. They gain strength, their stamina improves and their endurance levels also improve a great deal.
Each boot camp has trainers who are in charge of the people who have signed up for the camp. The training part of the 'boot camp' is very important. A lot depends on how strict the trainers are and how much they make you work out. If the participants also work out to get the maximum results, then the goal of losing fat is achieved.
In the 'boot camps', fitness can be achieved in a fun way. The rigorous exercise schedule might not seem so difficult since people can also socialize. The best part is that each person can become fit according to their needs.
