What can I say? My best summer vacation ever?! Truly, that is what the past 8 weeks have been for me. I’m like a born-again believer. This all makes perfect sense, without mystery. I can see muscles where there used to be fat. Totally amazing! Your staff has helped me by believing in me more than I did myself. Like I’m jogging when I thought I couldn’t; swimming because Greg said I could; and climbing those crazy dunes – why, because they’re there. “Life altering” may sound like a cliche, but it is clearly accurate. Kevin came to us with an unparalleled determination. His original motivation was simply to get healthy enough to be able to play with his kids in various athletic activities. He would challenge himself each week, reach that goal, then set the bar higher for the following week. It worked – he completed the challenge of the bike/hike/bike in a record two hours. He climbed the infamous Santa Monica stairs – over one hundred eighty steps high – in an unprecedented twenty times in one hour. By the time he left us, he had reached a level of fitness typically only enjoyed by elite athletes, and hopes his kids will have trouble keeping up with him!

Before I came to L.I.F.E. I was stuck in a cycle of unhealthy eating, lack of motivation, and virtually no activity or exercise. Unlike many of our other success stories, Matt approached the program with a slightly more “laid back” attitude. Even though he brought a more mellow approach to his training sessions, he remained determined to reach his goals, and left us more confident and athletic. When he got here, he refused to ride a bike or even run at all. By the time he left, he was doing the Bike-Hike-Bike at least three times a week – on his own, in addition to his scheduled activities – and was runnning four miles to and from boot camp even with a nagging shin injury. He lost 65 pounds, and is still working hard to lose even more on his own. Matt is a great example of how someone doesn’t necessarily need to be extremely motivated to be successful in our program.
